What Can You Eat on a Keto Diet? 

So what can be eaten on a keto diet? Think meats and seafood as good sources of protein, as well as eggs and healthy fats, vegetables, nuts, beverages, spices and sweeteners. On a low carb diet, there are actually plenty of foods that can be used to create delicious meals as well as healthy snacks to fit in on the go, to supplement your main meals. 

How Many Carbs Can You Eat? 

On a keto, low carb diet, you'd typically consume most of your calories from high fat, high protein foods, keeping the number of carbs low (hence the ‘low carb’ name). For example, on a stricter Ketogenic diet you should consume no more than 20 grams of net carbs per day, however, if you'd prefer to take a more moderate approach initially then 20-50 grams, or even 50-100 grams of net carbs per day is a good starting point.

Keto-Friendly Sweeteners with 0 Net Carbs

This brings us to the sweeteners. The No Sugar Company understand the bad rep sweeteners have in the health industry; we're aware of the negative effects harmful sweeteners can have, for example, maltitol is commonly used as a sugar alternative however it’s known to cause digestive issues, which is why we use more natural, healthier sweeteners instead and don’t use any maltitol in our products.

Erythritol

Our no-sugar keto products contain healthy fats (coconut oil, palm kernel oil, cocoa butter, hazelnut butter, milkfat, palm oil, sunflower lecithin), as well as Erythritol which is known to act as an antioxidant and may improve blood vessel function in people with diabetes (type 2). Evidence also suggests that these benefits could potentially reduce the risk of heart disease.

Erythritol's cost has risen by 300% while the cost of refined sugar continues to go down. Despite this, we continue to use erythritol and absorb the margin squeeze to ensure we have the highest quality ingredients.

Stevia Extract

Stevia is a natural zero-calorie sweetener derived from the stevia plant. It’s 200 times sweeter than sugar, and better for your body than other sweeteners! In fact, stevia extract has antioxidant properties that help fight free radicals from attacking healthy cells in the body.
